Job summary

Academics is seeking a Teaching Assistant for a full-time 1-year contract at a primary school in Thurrock, starting September 2026. You will work with teachers to support children's learning, foster confidence, and assist with classroom routines across the academic year.

The role offers steady hours and the chance to make a real impact in pupils' development. Salary is 92-120 per day, depending on experience, with consistent work and dedicated education consultant support throughout the contract

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary school
• Patient, approachable and encouraging in your manner
• Reliable, proactive and comfortable working as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with lessons, activities and day-to-day classroom routines
• Provide focused support to pupils individually or in small groups
• Help children stay engaged and motivated throughout their learning
• Reinforce key skills and support pupils who require additional guidance
• Encourage positive behaviour and respectful relationships
• Help pupils develop confidence and greater independence
• Prepare learning materials and assist with classroom organisation
• Work closely with teaching staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate support
