Job summary

New College Swindon is expanding its Inclusive Learning team and seeks Inclusion Mentors to support learners with additional needs. You will provide personalised one-to-one and small group support to promote independence, confidence and success.

The role involves collaborating with teachers, curriculum teams, employers and external agencies to create inclusive learning environments, carrying out initial assessments and contributing to support plans.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional needs.
  • Understanding of inclusive practice and barriers to learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or willingness to learn.
  • GCSEs English and Maths (grade 4/C or above) or equivalent, willingness to achieve Level 2.
  • SEND-related qualifications or professional development are advantageous.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of learners.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised one-to-one and small group support for learners with SEND and additional learning needs.
  • Empower learners to develop strategies to reduce learning barriers and promote independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, curriculum teams, employers and external agencies to create inclusive learning environments.
  • Carry out initial support needs assessments and contribute to individual support plans and EHCPs.
  • Monitor learner progress and maintain accurate records to tailor support.
  • Provide advice on reasonable adjustments and inclusive practice to staff.
  • Promote learner wellbeing, confidence and self-advocacy throughout their educational journey.
  • Contribute to developing inclusive practice across the College.
