Job summary

Broomwood Pre-Prep, part of the Dukes Education family, is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide one-to-one support in the Early Years. The role is 12-16 hours per week during term time, focusing on helping a child access the curriculum, build independence and social connections.

You will work with a supportive team, using evidence-based strategies, positive reinforcement and consistent communication, while adhering to safeguarding policies and contributing to professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with pupils in a school setting, ideally in Early Years.
• Experience of behaviour support or Special Educational Needs, particularly autism.
• Creative, motivating, kind and compassionate with inclusive mindset.
• Promotes a culture of inclusion and high expectations.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Form Teacher and Head of Learning Support to implement evidence-based strategies.
• Use positive reinforcement and consistent communication to build self-esteem.
• Adapt activities to suit the child’s interests to encourage engagement.
• Fade in/out support to foster independence throughout the day.
• Maintain a predictable routine and use visual/verbal supports.
• Keep daily tracking of behaviour, engagement and progress.
• Support social communication and peer relationships; model appropriate interactions.
• Implement structured speech therapy exercises across the week.
