Job summary

New Directions Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to work full-time across Leeds, supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs in specialist settings. You will build trusting relationships, implement behaviour strategies, and support emotional regulation to help pupils engage with learning and develop resilience.

Experience in education is desirable, but transferable skills from youth work or care roles are welcomed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people in a support, behaviour, care, youth work, SEND, or SEMH setting.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEND and SEMH needs on a one-to-one and small group basis.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and participation.
• Implement behaviour support strategies in line with individual student needs.
• Assist with emotional regulation and conflict resolution.
• Support teachers and other professionals in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and personal development.
