Job summary

Luton Borough Council is recruiting an Employment Specialist to help individuals find and sustain employment. You will provide personalised coaching, assess strengths and barriers, and create a tailored action plan supporting job search, CVs, and digital skills while addressing wider issues such as housing and benefits.

You will build strong relationships with local employers, develop accessible recruitment pathways and help employers become more disability confident.

Qualifications

• Experience in one-to-one coaching or mentoring within employment/skills sector and able to support diverse clients.
• Ability to work toward challenging targets, quality standards and deadlines with a person-centred approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with participants, employers and partner organisations.
• Proficient use of CRM systems and Microsoft Office; capable of digital communication (phone, email, video).
• Willingness to travel and drive when required; commitment to equality, safeguarding and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one coaching and tailored action plans to help participants find sustainable employment.
• Assist with CVs, interviews, job searching, digital skills and job-keeping while addressing barriers (housing, benefits, childcare, health).
• Develop opportunities with local employers and create accessible recruitment pathways.
• Manage a caseload, work to performance targets and ensure high-quality, consistent support.
• Collaborate with health professionals, training providers, social care and community organisations to support participants.
