Key Responsibilities

As an experienced, qualified employment solicitor, you will play a vital role in advising and representing clients on a broad spectrum of employment law matters. Whether working with individuals or businesses, you will offer expert guidance in navigating complex employment-related issues that may arise in the workplace.

This will include advisory services, drafting legal documents, and advocacy.

  • Contracts of employment and service agreements. Employee handbooks.
  • Discrimination and equality, and internal investigations.
  • Employee and HR rights, including grievances and disciplinary procedures
  • Redundancy processes and restructuring
  • Advice on TUPE matters and Boardroom issues.
  • Termination of employment and unfair dismissal cases, and tribunal advice
  • Understand workplace rights and employers' aiming to ensure legal compliance.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents. These may include:
  • Employment contracts and policies
  • Settlement agreements
  • Non-compete clauses and confidentiality agreements
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures documentation
  • Represent clients in disputes before employment tribunals, courts, or during arbitration and mediation. Typical disputes include:
  • Unfair dismissal claims
  • Discrimination cases based on age, race, gender, or disability
  • Wage disputes and breach of contract claims
  • Whistle-blower protection cases

For corporate clients, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. This includes:

  • Advising on workplace policies and procedures to reduce legal risks
  • Providing training to HR teams on employment law updates
  • Supporting internal investigations and audits

Requirements
Key Skills Required
A thorough understanding of employment law is paramount. Stay updated on legislative changes, precedents, and industry-specific regulations.
Strong analytical skills allow solicitors to assess cases, identify potential issues, and craft strategic solutions.
Representing clients in tribunals or courts requires persuasive advocacy skills, confidence, and an ability to think quickly under pressure.
Educational Requirements
A qualifying law degree or a non-law degree followed by a conversion course (such as the Graduate Diploma in Law)
Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE)
