Job summary

Simpson Judge is seeking an Employment Solicitor to join its established Northampton team. The role involves advising both employer and employee clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

You will work with experienced colleagues, handling advisory work, drafting and dispute resolution, with the opportunity to build lasting client relationships and develop your career in employment law.

Qualifications

• Newly Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with employment law experience.
• Good understanding of employment legislation and Employment Tribunal procedures.
• Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, practical advice.
• Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Proactive, commercially aware and client-focused, with an interest in developing a career in employment law.

Responsibilities

• Advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures, dismissals, redundancies, discrimination and workplace disputes.
• Assisting with Employment Tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing.
• Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, settlement agreements, staff handbooks and workplace policies.
• Advising on day-to-day employment issues, including performance management, sickness absence and changes to terms and conditions.
• Supporting negotiations, settlement discussions and dispute resolution.
• Managing a varied caseload, maintaining client relationships and ensuring matters are progressed efficiently.
