Job summary

Michael Page Legal is seeking an Employment Solicitor to join an in-house legal team in Leicester on a 12 month fixed term contract, with potential for a permanent opportunity. You will advise and represent senior leaders across the UK on a predominantly contentious caseload, including employment and professional discipline matters.

You'll join a six-lawyer team, working collaboratively to manage complex tribunal proceedings and regulatory issues.

Qualifications

• 2+ PQE in employment law.
• Experience managing own employment caseload including contentious matters.
• Confident handling of employment tribunal work and complex disputes.

Responsibilities

• Hand a manageable caseload of employment, professional discipline, and related matters, with around 65% contentious work.
• Provide high quality employment advice and representation to senior leaders across the UK.
• Conduct employment tribunal and other proceedings, draft pleadings and legal documents, and represent where appropriate.
• Advise on professional discipline, regulatory matters, settlement agreements and employment contracts.
• Collaborate with the wider legal team, member support colleagues, and external solicitors to deliver high-quality service.

Description

• Handing a managable caseload of employment, professional discipline and related matters, with around 65% of the work being contentious and litigation focused
• Provide high quality employment advice and representation to senior leaders, dealing with complex and sensitive employment issues
• Have conduct of employment tribunal and other proceedings, including drafting pleadings, legal documents, preparing cases and providing representation where appropriate
• Advise on professional discipline matters, regulatory issues, settlement agreements and employment contracts
• Work closely with the wider six lawyer legal team, member support colleagues, external solicitors and barristers to deliver an excellent service to members

Profile

• A solicitor or equivalent with 2+ PQE and strong employment law experience
• Experienced in managing their own employment caseload, ideally with a strong contentious and litigation background
• Confident dealing with employment tribunal matters and complex employment disputes
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and clients on sensitive and high value employment issues
• Ideally experienced in professional discipline, regulatory matters or representing professionals
• A confident communicator who can build strong relationships and provide clear, practical and commercially sensible legal advice
• Advocacy experience would be welcomed, although it isn't essential

The role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, with the potential for a permanent opportunity thereafter. The package includes:

• £57,000 salary
