Michael Page Legal is recruiting an In-House Employment Solicitor for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Leicester with UK-wide advisory responsibilities. The role focuses on employment and professional discipline, balancing contentious and non-contentious work within a six-lawyer team.

• Advise on professional discipline matters, regulatory issues and settlement agreements.
• Collaborate with a six-lawyer team, member support colleagues, external solicitors and barristers to deliver service.

You'll advise and represent senior leaders across the UK, handling a predominantly contentious caseload alongside employment and professional discipline work.

Description

The In-House Employment Solicitor will be:

• Handing a managable caseload of employment, professional discipline and related matters, with around 65% of the work being contentious and litigation focused
• Provide high quality employment advice and representation to senior leaders, dealing with complex and sensitive employment issues
• Have conduct of employment tribunal and other proceedings, including drafting pleadings, legal documents, preparing cases and providing representation where appropriate
• Advise on professional discipline matters, regulatory issues, settlement agreements and employment contracts
• Work closely with the wider six lawyer legal team, member support colleagues, external solicitors and barristers to deliver an excellent service to members

Profile

The In-House Employment Solicitor should be:

• A solicitor or equivalent with strong employment law experience
• Experienced in managing their own employment caseload, ideally with a strong contentious and litigation background
• Confident dealing with employment tribunal matters and complex employment disputes
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and clients on sensitive and high value employment issues
• Ideally experienced in professional discipline, regulatory matters or representing professionals
• A confident communicator who can build strong relationships and provide clear, practical and commercially sensible legal advice
• Advocacy experience would be welcomed, although it isn't essential

Job Offer

The role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, with the potential for a permanent opportunity thereafter. The package includes:

• £57,000 salary
