Legal Southwest Ltd. is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive for a fixed term up to 12 months in Exeter. The role offers hybrid working and a varied caseload across employment law, including contentious and non-contentious matters with a diverse client base.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year PQE, strong communication and organisational skills, and a pragmatic, commercially aware approach to delivering advice both independently and with the team.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 1 year PQE in employment law.
• Experience handling a range of contentious and non-contentious matters.
• Ability to manage own caseload and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Advise employers and employees on a broad range of employment law matters.
• Draft and review employment contracts, workplace policies and settlement agreements.
• Provide guidance on disciplinary procedures, grievances and workplace disputes.
• Manage Employment Tribunal claims and support related proceedings.
• Advise on employment law matters arising from corporate transactions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients.
• Manage an independent caseload while collaborating with colleagues.

Job description

• Location: Exeter (Hybrid Working)
• Salary: Dependent on Experience
• Hours: Full-time, 36.25 hours per week
• Contract: Fixed Term – Up to 12 Months (Maternity Cover)

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join their Litigation and Employment team on a fixed-term contract of up to 12 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified legal professional with at least one year’s post-qualification experience to join a supportive and experienced team, handling a varied caseload of employment law matters.

The successful candidate will work with a diverse client base, including businesses, charities, senior executives and individuals, providing practical and commercially focused employment law advice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advising employers and employees on a broad range of employment law matters.
• Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, workplace policies and settlement agreements.
• Providing guidance on disciplinary procedures, grievances and workplace disputes.
• Managing and assisting with Employment Tribunal claims.
• Advising on employment law matters arising from corporate transactions.
• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with existing and new clients.
• Managing an independent caseload whilst working closely with colleagues across the firm.

About You:

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors or Chartered Legal Executives with a minimum of 1 year’s PQE in employment law.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience handling a range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
• The confidence and ability to manage their own caseload.
• Strong communication, organisational and client care skills.
