Job summary

Howes Percival LLP is seeking a Solicitor to join the Employment Team in Cambridge or Norwich. This role offers a great path to grow with a team that values client relationships and career development.

You will advise on a wide range of employment law matters, support senior lawyers on tribunal claims, draft and review employment documentation, and contribute to business development while delivering practical, commercially-focused advice.

Qualifications

We have an exciting opportunity for a Solicitor to join our EmploymentTeam in Cambridge or Norwich.

This is great opportunity for someone who has the drive and enthusiasm to further their career, build strong client relationships and help to grow our team.

Some of your duties will include:

• Advising employers and employees on a wide range of employment law matters, including disciplinary and grievance issues, absence management, discrimination, redundancy and employment contracts.
• Supporting senior lawyers on complex employment tribunal claims and assisting with case preparation, witness statements and hearing bundles.
• Managing your own caseload of straightforward employment matters with appropriate supervision.
• Drafting and reviewing employment-related documentation, including contracts of employment, policies, settlement agreements and consultancy agreements.
• Providing practical and commercially focused advice that aligns with clients' business objectives.
• Assisting clients with day-to-day HR and employee relations queries.
• Undertaking legal research and keeping up to date with developments in employment legislation and case law.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships through excellent service and effective communication.
• Supporting business development activities, including attending networking events, contributing to client seminars and preparing articles or updates.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Employment team and wider firm to deliver high-quality legal services.
• Advise and assist clients in relation to their matters, ensuring a high level of client service is maintained at all times and that the client’s aims are met (subject to professional and regulatory requirements)
• Manage all aspects of the client relationship, from engagement to billing and chasing payment
• Prepare and review legal documents ahead of a court hearing
• Ensuring compliance with all file management processes, including those related to file audits
• Working as a team with colleagues in promoting the interests of Howes Percival and in undertaking their role
• Complying with all legislative and regulatory requirements
• Developing litigation strategies
• Updating and consulting with Senior Associates and Partners
• Managing client cases from start to finish
