Job summary

Simpson Judge in Birmingham is seeking an Employment Associate (1+ PQE) to join its growing employment team.

You will handle a mix of contentious and non-contentious matters, draft contracts and policies, and develop client relationships within a collaborative, supportive culture.

Qualifications

• 1 year post-qualification experience in employment law.
• Experience handling a mixture of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
• Strong technical ability and excellent attention to detail.
• A commercial and pragmatic approach to client service.

• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Advising employers on day-to-day employment law and HR issues.
• Managing Employment Tribunal claims from initial instruction through to hearing.
• Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies, settlement agreements and other employment documentation.
• Advising on disciplinaries, grievances, dismissals, discrimination, whistleblowing and redundancy processes.
• Supporting clients on the employment aspects of corporate transactions and restructurings.
• Working closely with senior lawyers and clients on complex and commercially sensitive matters.
• Developing strong client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of the Birmingham practice.

The Role

Your work is likely to include:
