Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking an Employment Solicitor to join our South West London team on a temporary basis. The role offers full-time hours with a day rate of £291.06 and includes handling a broad spectrum of employment law matters, including tribunals, discrimination and settlement negotiations.

You will manage cases, draft pleadings and witness statements, advise senior stakeholders, and stay updated on regulatory changes to ensure a high-quality legal service.

Qualifications

• Strong advisory and negotiation skills with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, practical and commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of employment law matters.
• Manage a varied caseload of employment-related litigation, including complex and high-profile cases.
• Advise on issues including unfair dismissal, TUPE, discrimination, Equality Act matters and settlement agreements.
• Conduct proceedings and represent clients in Employment Tribunals, courts, inquiries and other hearings.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements, legal documentation and opinions.
• Instruct and manage counsel and external advisers where necessary.
• Provide guidance to senior stakeholders, boards and management teams on developments and legislative changes.
• Maintain accurate case management records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to legal services development.

Key Responsibilities

• As an Employment Solicitor, you will:

  • Provide timely, practical and commercially focused legal advice on a wide range of employment law matters.
  • Manage a varied caseload of employment-related litigation, including complex, high-profile and sensitive cases.
  • Advise on issues including unfair dismissal, TUPE, discrimination claims, Equality Act matters, whistleblowing claims and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct proceedings and represent clients in Employment Tribunals, courts, inquiries and other hearings as required.
  • Draft pleadings, witness statements, legal documentation, reports and legal opinions.
  • Instruct and manage counsel and external legal advisers where necessary.
  • Provide legal and procedural advice to senior stakeholders, boards, committees and management teams.
  • Monitor developments in employment law and communicate legislative changes and potential impacts to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate case management records and ensure compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of legal services, systems and processes.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues, providing a responsive and solution-focused legal service.
