We are recruiting a full-time Employment Solicitor for our Darlington office. As a Claimant Employment Solicitor, you will handle a wide range of employment law cases, advocating for individuals facing workplace issues.

Our employment case matters include, but are not limited to:

  • Discrimination and harassment
  • Disciplinary procedures and grievances
  • Dispute resolution
  • ACAS and early reconciliation
  • Redundancy
  • Flexible working hours
  • Terms and contracts of employment

Knowledge & Experience

  • Managing own caseload of Respondent and Applicant work from start to finish
  • Representation at Tribunal, including advocacy
  • Considering settlement options in clients' best interests, assessing quantum based on legislation and case law
  • Managing client work efficiently, complying with procedures, deadlines, and standards
  • Exploring funding options like CFA, DBA, private retainers, insurance, and trade union funding
  • Ensuring payment for work is secured before starting and bills are settled promptly
  • Adhering to Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and Code of Conduct
  • Keeping clients updated through written and oral communication, recorded on case management systems
  • Building relationships with external institutions and developing new ones to grow the department
  • Participating in training and self-development, including at least 16 hours of CPD annually
  • Supporting practice promotion and embodying its ethos
  • Performing additional duties as required by Directors

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 2+ years' experience in employment law (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of employment law principles, procedures, and legislation
  • Proven ability to handle complex employment law cases professionally and sensitively
  • Excellent client management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with good time management
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
