Job summary

The Communities for Work Plus Employment Mentor at Vale of Glamorgan Council will provide tailored employability support, mentoring and guidance to unemployed and economically inactive individuals across the Vale of Glamorgan.

You will manage a caseload, develop action plans, identify and help overcome barriers to employment, and support access to training, education and sustainable work opportunities, working with internal teams, employers and partner organisations.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in an employment‑related field.
• Experience of providing support and mentoring to individuals.
• Experience of working with people facing barriers to employment and poverty.
• Experience of developing and implementing action plans.
• Experience of partnership and multi‑agency working.
• Knowledge of employment, welfare and benefit issues.
• Knowledge of support services available through statutory and voluntary organisations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to travel throughout the Vale of Glamorgan as required.

Responsibilities

• The Communities for Work Plus Employment Mentor will provide tailored employability support, mentoring and guidance to unemployed and economically inactive individuals across the Vale of Glamorgan.
• Managing a caseload of participants, the postholder will develop and review individual action plans, identify and help overcome barriers to employment, and support individuals to access training, education and sustainable work opportunities.
• The role involves working collaboratively with internal teams, employers and partner organisations to deliver high quality, person‑centred support that contributes to the Welsh Government's Tackling Poverty agenda.
• The successful candidate will maintain accurate records, monitor participant progress and support the effective delivery and ongoing development of the Communities for Work Plus programme.
