Job summary

The Oyster Partnership is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its in-house legal team on a locum basis. This fully remote role involves advising HR and management across a Local Authority, handling a varied caseload.

Start ASAP; 9:00am-5:00pm; rate £60–£65 per hour (DOE). Long-term locum potential for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor, barrister, or chartered legal executive.
• Strong employment law experience.
• Experience handling Employment Tribunal matters independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide employment law advice to HR and management.
• Manage a broad caseload of employment matters.
• Handle Employment Tribunal claims from start to finish.
• Advise on disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, and dismissal issues.
• Support organizational change projects and restructures.
• Deliver practical legal advice to senior stakeholders.

Employment Lawyer - Remote Local Authority Opportunity

A Local Authority is seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join its in-house legal team on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and well-established legal service, providing expert employment law advice and assisting with a varied caseload during a period of increased demand.

The successful candidate will join a small but highly regarded Employment Law team and will be expected to quickly become involved in a range of contentious and non-contentious matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing employment law advice to HR and management teams across the council.
• Managing a broad caseload of employment law matters.
• Handling Employment Tribunal claims from initial instruction through to conclusion.
• Advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and dismissal issues.
• Supporting organisational change projects, restructures, and complex employee relations matters.
• Delivering practical, commercially focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will:

• Be a Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Have strong employment law experience.
• Ideally possess experience gained within a Local Authority or wider public sector organisation.
• Have experience managing Employment Tribunal matters independently.
• Be confident advising HR professionals and senior management.
• Be capable of working autonomously in a fully remote environment and managing a busy caseload.
