As an Employment and Skills Mentor, you will play a key frontline role in the launch and delivery of Telford College’s new Youth Hub, based within the Skills Shop in Telford Town Centre.
The Youth Hub provides dedicated support to young people aged 16–24, helping them take positive steps towards employment, apprenticeships, education and training. You will work directly with young people, managing a caseload and providing practical, personalised employability support tailored to their individual goals and circumstances.
Your role will include building confidence and motivation, identifying and overcoming barriers to progression, developing CV and interview skills, supporting job searches and applications, and connecting young people with employers, vacancies, work experience, apprenticeships and training opportunities.
This is a proactive, people-focused and outcomes-driven role for someone who can build positive relationships, inspire and motivate young people, and help them turn their aspirations into realistic and achievable next steps.
Support will be delivered through a combination of one-to-one mentoring, group activities, outreach and partnership working, including close collaboration with DWP Work Coaches, employers and community organisations. At the heart of the role is a clear focus on helping young people achieve sustainable employment and long-term progression.
