Job summary

Connect to Work is hiring an Employer Engagement Advisor in Birmingham to build strong relationships with local employers, identify vacancies and create meaningful opportunities for young adults.

You will work with DWP-funded programmes, match participants to roles, support recruitment activity and help the programme meet targets and quality requirements across Birmingham and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in employer engagement or business development within DWP-funded contracts or similar programmes.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Ability to identify vacancies and match candidates to employer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining relationships with employers across the local labour market.
• Identifying vacancies and developing opportunities for participants to enter employment.
• Promoting the programme to employers and explaining the support available to businesses and candidates.
• Matching participant skills, experience and aspirations to suitable job opportunities.
• Supporting job applications, interviews and job starts in collaboration with employment advisors.
• Maintaining accurate employer records and monitoring vacancy and placement activity.
• Working towards programme objectives and meeting contract, reporting and quality requirements.

Salary: £29,000 – £30,000 per annum

Location: Birmingham, with outreach across Hodge Hill, Sutton Coldfield, Yardley and surrounding areas

About the Organisation

The organisation delivers employment support designed to help people overcome barriers to work, improve their employability and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.

Through the government-funded Connect to Work programme, it supports economically inactive and unemployed people aged 18-25 across targeted areas of East Birmingham.

About the Role

As an Employer Engagement Advisor, you will develop relationships with local businesses and employers to identify vacancies, promote the benefits of working with the programme and create suitable opportunities for participants.

You will work closely with employment support colleagues to match participants to vacancies, support recruitment activity and contribute to programme performance and employment outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining relationships with employers across the local labour market.

Ideal Candidate

You will have experience in employer engagement, business development or employer-facing roles within DWP-funded employment contracts or the wider employability sector.

You will also bring:

• Experience working with DWP contracts or government-funded employment programmes.
• A strong understanding of employer engagement and local labour market opportunities.
• The ability to build productive relationships with employers and develop new business opportunities.
• Experience identifying vacancies and matching candidates to employer requirements.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-management skills.Good organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage competing priorities.
• A results-focused approach and an understanding of the importance of employment outcomes and contract performance.
• Experience working alongside caseload-based employment support teams would be advantageous.
