Overall Purpose:
The Employee Relations Specialist will build strong business partnerships to deliver ER solutions aligned with company objectives and contribute to key initiatives to enhance processes, capabilities, and overall Nandoca experience.
- Act as a partner within the Nando’s People Operations Team, ensuring compliance, ethics, and soundness in all employee relations (ER) matters.
- Focus on proactively advising and supporting leaders in managing employee relations effectively, fostering a high-performance culture, identifying opportunities, and mitigating risks.
- Promote behaviours that embody Compass culture and the 14 brilliant shifts.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic ER Support:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to line managers, providing expert ER guidance aligned with business objectives.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders to influence ER practices.
- Identify ER trends and implement solutions to improve engagement and retention.
- Contribute to strategic decisions, balancing commercial and legal considerations.
Employee Relations Case Management:
- Manage complex ER cases, including grievances, disciplinary investigations, performance, and misconduct.
- Lead on complex ER cases, ensuring risk mitigation and fairness.
- Guide on settlements, COT3 agreements, and liaise with legal counsel.
- Advise on tribunal claims and coordinate with external legal support and ACAS.
Training, Coaching & Capability Building:
- Coach managers in ER handling, developing capabilities.
- Deliver ER training on topics like discrimination, absence, investigations, and performance.
- Create toolkits, templates, and guidance materials.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with employment law and case law, translating into practical guidance.
- Enhance ER policies to align with values and legal requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Support HR in formal meetings, coaching, and notes.
- Collaborate with external bodies like UK Visas and Immigration and Occupational Health.
- Support wellbeing initiatives and employee programs.
