Job summary

Zachary Daniels Recruitment is partnering with a leading UK retailer to appoint an experienced Employee Relations Partner. The role blends complex ER casework with engagement, wellbeing, D&I, policy and broader People projects across a nationwide remit.

You will travel regularly to understand ground realities, provide specialist ER advice, support tribunals, develop policies, and drive employee experience improvements while partnering with unions and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience handling complex and escalated ER cases.
• Up-to-date UK employment law knowledge is required.
• Experience or exposure to Employment Tribunal cases.
• Experience with employee engagement and wider People initiatives.
• Exposure to Trade Unions and dispute resolution.
• Experience creating and delivering ER training.
• Commercial and pragmatic approach to ER
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to coach and challenge managers
• Excellent organisation and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Experience in fast-paced, multi-site environments (retail/hospitality) is helpful

Responsibilities

Employee Relations Partner | ER & Engagement | Remote / Field Based

Zachary Daniels are partnering with a leading UK retailer to recruit an experienced Employee Relations Partner to join their wider People team.

This is a broad role combining complex Employee Relations with engagement, wellbeing, D&I, policy and wider People projects. You'll be helping the business manage ER risk effectively, but just as importantly, looking at what can be done proactively to improve the employee experience and drive engagement across the organisation.

The role is remote and field based with regular travel, so we're looking for someone who enjoys getting out into the business, building relationships and understanding what's really happening on the ground.

What you'll be doing

• Providing specialist advice on complex and escalated ER matters
• Supporting disciplinaries, grievances, redundancies and other complex people issues
• Managing and supporting Employment Tribunal cases alongside employment solicitors
• Supporting settlement discussions and helping the business manage ER risk
• Reviewing and developing policies and processes to ensure they're legally compliant, practical and aligned with the culture of the business
• Working across employee engagement, wellbeing, D&I and reward initiatives
• Using ER and people data to spot trends, identify areas of concern and help shape proactive solutions
• Supporting initiatives and projects designed to improve the overall employee experience and engagement
• Working with Trade Unions and supporting dispute resolution
• Creating and delivering ER training to build capability across HR and the wider management population
• Sharing best practice and helping drive consistency across a large, multi-site organisation
• Getting involved in wider People projects and cross-functional initiatives
• Providing on-site support for more complex ER situations when required

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who brings strong technical ER knowledge but can see the bigger People picture too.

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong experience managing complex and escalated ER casework
• Up-to-date UK employment law knowledge
• Experience supporting or managing Employment Tribunal cases
• Experience or exposure to employee engagement and wider People initiatives
• Exposure to Trade Unions and dispute resolution
• Experience creating and delivering ER training
• A commercial and pragmatic approach
• Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills
• The confidence to challenge and coach managers
• Excellent organisation and communication skills
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Experience within retail, hospitality or another fast-paced, multi-site environment would be particularly useful.
