Job summary

St Elphege’s Infant School and St Elphege’s Junior School are seeking an Emotional Wellbeing Assistant to support children across the infant and junior years. The role is part of Sancta Familia Catholic Academy Trust and focuses on delivering targeted wellbeing support within a caring school community.

The successful candidate will facilitate small-group interventions, help pupils build emotional vocabulary and coping strategies, and work closely with staff to promote a positive learning

Qualifications

• Motivated, creative and well organised.
• Able to work with pupils of varying ability and age.
• Recognised ELSA training or commitment to complete.
• Great team player capable of collaborating with others.
• Able to facilitate structured small-group interventions (social skills groups, nurture sessions, friendship circles).
• Help pupils develop coping mechanisms and emotional vocabulary for classroom/playground use.

Emotional Wellbeing Assistant VACANCY – Autumn Term 2026 Pay scale: Grade 1C/2 POINT 2 (FTE 0.6) (Dependent on hours & experience)St Elphege’s Schools are looking to appoint an Emotional Wellbeing Assistant to work with children across the infant and junior schools. St. Elphege’s Infant School and St. Elphege’s Junior School are part of the Sancta Familia Catholic Academy Trust. Our schools are friendly and caring places where we enjoy good relationships between dedicated staff, pupils, parents, governors, parishes and local community.

We are looking to appoint an Emotional Wellbeing Assistant who is:

• Highly motivated, creative and well organised.
• Able to work with a range of pupils of varying ability and age.
• Has Recognised ELSA training (or commitment to complete).
• Be a great team player who can collaborate with others and contribute to the smooth functioning and workings of the school.
• Able to facilitate structured small-group interventions, including social skills groups, nurture sessions, and friendship circles.
• Able to help pupils develop practical coping mechanisms, emotional vocabulary, and conflict-resolution strategies to use independently in the classroom and playground.
