Job summary

Wates Group is seeking an ambitious Assistant Building Services Manager to join our expanding team in the UK. This early-career role targets individuals with Mechanical & Electrical experience and a desire to build technical expertise, project knowledge and leadership in one of the UK’s leading fit-out and construction businesses.

The role supports delivery across projects, coordinating with teams, consultants and clients to ensure high-quality, safe outcomes from pre-construction to handover.

Qualifications

• Early-career candidate with experience in the Mechanical & Electrical sector.
• Ambitious and keen to develop technical, project and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordination and delivery of M&E packages.
• Support Building Services Manager in managing subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitor progress against milestones and identify risks or delays.
• Attend site meetings and contribute to project delivery discussions.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities.
• Review M&E designs, drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants and subcontractors to ensure design intent.
• Support implementation of sustainable building services solutions.
• Ensure installations comply with regulations and project requirements.
• Carry out site inspections and monitor quality of installations.
• Support health, safety and environmental compliance across M&E activities.
• Assist in coordinating site logistics and sequencing of works.
• Identify and close out defects and snagging items.
