Wates Smartspace is seeking an ambitious Assistant Building Services Manager to join our growing team. This is an early-career role within the Mechanical & Electrical sector, offering a pathway to develop technical expertise, project knowledge and leadership skills on high-profile fit-out, refurbishment and construction projects in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordination and delivery of mechanical and electrical packages.
• Support Building Services Manager in managing subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
• Monitor progress against programme milestones and identify potential risks or delays.
• Attend site meetings and contribute to project delivery discussions.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities.
• Review M&E designs, drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants and subcontractors to ensure design intent is achieved.
• Support the implementation of innovative and sustainable building services solutions.
• Ensure installations comply with relevant regulations, standards and project requirements.
• Carry out site inspections and monitor quality of installations.
• Support health, safety and environmental compliance across all M&E activities.
• Assist in coordinating site logistics and sequencing of works.
• Ensure defects and snagging items are identified and closed out effectively.
• Develop strong working relationships with project teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
• Support client reporting and project updates.
• Contribute to collaborative working across all project stakeholders.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain high professional standards.
