Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an experienced Emergency Practitioner for Cirencester. The role is part-time (36 hours per week) and open to internal applicants only, based in Cirencester Hospital MIiU.

You will join a skilled, autonomous team delivering evidence-based care and working across partnerships with local services. The post emphasises patient-centred care, professional development, and a supportive preceptor-led induction.

Qualifications

• Registered healthcare professional with Emergency Practitioner qualification.
• Clinical experience in MIiU/ED settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced, evidence-based health care in the MIiU/ED setting.
• Assess patients using priority triage and develop safe treatment plans.
• Interpret X-ray requests and imaging when appropriate.
• Discharge patients considering physical and social factors.
• Offer health promotion advice and empower self-care where possible.
• Where qualified, undertake non-medical prescribing or PGDs.
• Collaborate with the urgent care team, social services, and GPs.

This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are part-time, 36 hours per week.

We seek an experienced & self-directed Emergency Practitioner with a passion and commitment to the care they deliver & who hold patient experience and care at the heart of their practice and share our organisational values. You will need to be motivated and enthusiastic in your role & looking for an opportunity to join our highly skilled team of autonomous Emergency Practitioners who deliver evidence -based clinical care in our Practitioner Led Unit.

Cirencester Hospital has a dedicated minor injury & illness unit (MIiU) open 7 days a week & the post holder will be required to work a full range of shifts.

We are open 08:00-20:00hrs

Essential requirements for this role,

• Relevant Professional Registration & clinical experience in MIiU / ED
• Emergency Practitioner qualification

As a member of the Gloucestershire NHS, the unit offers a diverse range of training opportunities and is committed to personal as well as service development. We also offer the opportunity of training with a preceptor to support the transition induction period and ongoing professional development.

Clinical

• To provide advanced, skilled, effective and evidenced based health care.
• To ensure patients are seen in priority order, utilising Manchester triage assessment
• To utilise advanced, specialist skills to undertake a thorough history, subjective and objective physical examination clinical decision making and safe treatment plan.
• To utilise advanced skills in x-ray request and interpretation to safely manage patients presenting with fractures.
• To utilise advanced clinical assessment and reasoning skills and knowledge to provide a safe service for all age groups including children and babies.
• When appropriate to safely discharge patients, taking into account both physical and social factors.
• To take the opportunity in every patient encounter to offer advice in health promotion and disease prevention and to advise and empower patients to self-care where possible.
• To undertake non-medical prescribing where qualified, or to utilise extensive PGD's when appropriate.
• To work in partnership with the wider urgent care team, acute trust, SWAST, OOH, social services, local GP's, ICT
• To have an innovative approach to practice in response to changing service needs and priorities. Acting as a change agent and facilitating the change process.
• To have knowledge of, and be able to effectively refer to local services and resources to promote care.
• To provide and receive sensitive complex information related to patients and relatives. To maintain confidentiality.
