Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a motivated Band 5 Specialist Pharmacy Technician to join the Emergency Department and SDEC team at Southport Hospital. The role focuses on medicines reconciliation, optimisation, and patient counselling in a fast-paced ED setting.

You will work closely with pharmacists and the wider healthcare team, supporting the ongoing development of services within ED, and participate in training, audits and service improvements.

Qualifikationen

• Must be a registered Pharmacy Technician with experience in a ward setting.
• Experience in medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation preferred.
• Ability to work independently within a clinical ward environment and in ED/SDEC settings.

Aufgaben

• Provide a hands-on clinical pharmacy technician service within the Emergency Department and SDEC, including medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation.
• Prioritise patients, identify medication discrepancies and collaborate with pharmacists, medical and nursing teams.
• Support safe and timely supply of medicines and ensure accurate transfer of medicines with patients on discharge.
• Deliver medicines advice and counselling to patients and support colleagues in the department.
• Involve in training, audits and service improvement within ED and SDEC.
• Participate in weekend, late-night and bank holiday rotas as required.
• Maintain dispensary skills and competencies through regular sessions.
