Northampton General Hospital seeks motivated Paediatric Nurses for its new Emergency Department. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Nurses to work within our new Paediatric Emergency Department.
We are looking for individuals with transferrable post registration experience, who also have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

Our Paediatric ED opened August 2021 and comprises of an Injury Service, 9 cubicle areas including a High Dependency Bay and an area designed specifically to care for children and adolescents who have presented with mental health concerns.
It also has separate child and adolescent waiting areas. Our Paediatric and Neonatal Trauma and Resuscitation bay is co-located in the Emergency Department.
Last year we saw in excess of 26 000 patients aged 0-18 years.
The Paediatric Emergency Department has close links with the Paediatric Unit within Northampton General Hospital which consists of a 7 bedded PAU with additional space for ambulatory patients, a 26 bedded medical ward with a 2 bed Paediatric HDU and an 18 bedded Surgical / Oncology ward. There is also a separate Neonatal intensive care unit. The Paediatric Emergency Department also has close links with the local CAMHS service.

There are specific band 6 development programmes, and we are one of the first UK hospitals to introduce the Daisy Award this is an international recognition programme that honours and celebrates the skilful and compassionate care that nurses provide every day.

Supporting Clinical Excellence
Undertake rapid assessment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED)
Provide support to other clinical colleagues to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient care of patients
Liaise with the onsite GP, ED Consultants, ED Doctors, ED Nurses and MDT to ensure safe, efficient patient care
Ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care decisions, delivered in a timely manner
Supply and administer medicines in line with Patient Group Directives and within scope of practice
Ensure complete and accurate documentation of every patient contact
Professional responsibilities
Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and at all times work within own scope of professional practice
Ensure that professional practice adheres to organisational and NMC policies, procedures, and guidelines
Maintain confidentiality regarding information pertaining to patients and staff
Maintain a professional manner and act as a positive role model for all members of the ED team
Ensure accurate record keeping and documentation in line with local policy and NMC Code of Professional Conduct

As well as this we are an accredited cancer centre and provide cancer services to a wider population of Northamptonshire and parts of Buckinghamshire.
