Job summary

Sussex Police is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Control and Contact Handler team at the Lewes headquarters. You will manage 999 and 101 calls, engage with the public across channels, and support front line operations with high-quality service.

The role requires you to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and bank holidays, with comprehensive training and clear progression paths within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older on the day you submit your application.
• Must have lived in the UK for three continuous years immediately prior to application.
• Not be a current or previous member of a proscribed terrorist organisation or group.
• Not have served a prison sentence.
• Fast and accurate typing skills with familiarity of the phonetic alphabet preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle a huge variety of emergency 999 calls, non-emergency 101 calls, online and social media communications.
• Strike the right balance between empathy and professional detachment when dealing with challenging situations.
• Provide excellent customer service to members of the public and Sussex Police colleagues.
• Log information quickly and accurately and ask the right questions.
