Job summary

Moderna Therapeutics in Oxford, UK seeks a Senior Manager of Trade Operations & Compliance for the EMEA region. You will partner with Global and Regional Trade leaders to shape strategy, manage customs and regulatory requirements, and ensure timely import/export activities.

The role emphasizes digital transformation, including SAP GTS, MIC, and Descartes, plus leadership across cross-functional teams to drive compliant, efficient trade operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of work experience in compliance, legal, auditing, or investigation in life sciences.
• Strong knowledge of EU Union Customs Code and local customs laws across EMEA.
• Experience managing customs brokers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs.
• Experience implementing digital trade compliance tools (SAP GTS, MIC, Descartes).

Responsibilities

• Partner with Global and Regional Trade leadership to enhance the EMEA program.
• Shape and lead regional trade compliance strategies aligned with global objectives.
• Serve as the regional SME on customs and trade regulations across EMEA.
• Support day-to-day import/export operations, documentation, and classifications.
• Lead design and improvement of trade compliance programs (tariff, origin, licensing).
• Champion digital transformation with trade compliance technologies and automation.
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact across EMEA.
• Collaborate with Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, Tax, Logistics to embed compliance.
• Lead strategic trade optimization initiatives and duty-relief opportunities.
• Manage interactions with customs authorities and regulatory inquiries.
• Provide training and knowledge sharing across the regional network.
• Define and monitor trade KPIs and broker performance.
• Foster standardization and cross-regional consistency.
