Job summary

Moderna is seeking an experienced leader for its Global Trade & Operations team to shape and drive regional trade compliance across the EMEA region from Harwell. You will partner with Global and Regional leadership to implement strategic programs, optimize processes, and ensure compliant, timely cross-border movements of medicines and technologies.

The role requires extensive expertise in EU customs, import/export operations, and digital tools, with a track record of leading global trade

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
10+ years of work experience, including 6+ years in a compliance, legal, auditing, or investigation role in life sciences.
Strong expertise in operational trade execution and project management in complex international environments.
Solid knowledge of EU Union Customs Code and local customs laws across EMEA, including import/export operations, dual-use regulations, classification, valuation, origin, and FTAs.
Experience managing customs brokers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs, and interactions with regulatory bodies.
Experience implementing digital trade compliance tools (SAP GTS, MIC, Descartes, or similar).
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to influence across geographies.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

Partner with Global and Regional Trade leadership to enhance the EMEA program.
Shape and lead regional trade compliance strategies aligned with global objectives.
Serve as SME on customs and international trade regulations across EMEA.
Oversee day-to-day import/export operations, documentation, and customs processes.
Design and improve trade compliance programs (tariff classification, valuation, licensing, origin, recordkeeping).
Champion digital transformation by adopting trade compliance technologies and AI-enabled capabilities.
Monitor regulatory changes across EMEA and assess business impacts.
Collaborate with Legal, Supply Chain, Finance, and other stakeholders to embed compliance into processes.
Lead strategic trade optimization initiatives including duty relief and bonded warehouse programs.
Manage interactions with customs authorities, audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
Deliver guidance, training, and knowledge-sharing across the regional network.
Define and monitor trade compliance KPIs and broker performance.
