Job summary

Sepura is seeking an experienced QA/Test Engineer to join our on-site team in Waterbeach, focused on validating LTE and TETRA products within embedded environments.

You will design and execute functional tests, develop automated scripts (Python/C#), and contribute to test planning within a cross-functional Agile team. Travel may be required, and a strong ownership mindset is essential for quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electronics, telecommunications, or related field as required or preferred.
• ISTQB certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Full, clean driving license and travel willingness.
• Strong hands-on functional testing experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience testing complex or embedded systems (telecom, networking, radio, IoT, devices).
• Proficiency designing functional test cases using equivalence, boundary, state-based, and risk-based techniques.
• Owns test strategy development, maintenance, and execution.
• Ability to conduct exploratory testing and identify edge cases.
• Strong skills in log analysis, debugging, and collaboration with developers.
• Knowledge of test automation tools (Selenium, Robot Framework, Appium) and scripting (Python/C#).
• Familiarity with Jira, Jama, or Azure DevOps for test management.
• Knowledge of embedded/Linux/radio firmware logs for analysis.
• Understanding of telecom protocols, RF testing, and interfaces (TCP/IP, UDP, Serial, Bluetooth) is a plus.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket or similar VCS.
• Ownership mindset, proactive risk identification and mitigation.
• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) is a plus.
• Attention to detail and methodical testing approach.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, iterative Agile environments with a bias for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Verify new features and changes within each sprint as part of a software scrum team.
• Review requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria to ensure clarity and testability.
• Contribute to test planning, execution, defect tracking, and stakeholder reporting.
• Design clear, thorough functional test cases and execute across embedded devices, software components, and APIs.
• Develop and execute automated test cases for LTE and TETRA products.
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues.
• Validate fixes and assess regression risk after developer changes.
• Analyze logs, system traces, and debug output to support defect reporting.
• Collaborate with developers to investigate issues, interpret logs, and reproduce defects.
• Work with Product Owners to ensure acceptance criteria are complete and testable.
• Provide concise updates on test progress, risks, blockers, and readiness.
