Job summary

Ultra Intelligence & Communications is seeking engineers to design, develop and test embedded and application software within the Cyber UK Business Unit. You will implement software under leadership, follow defined processes, and contribute to multiple research and production programmes valued from tens of thousands to millions of pounds.

The role emphasizes SFIA Level 2/3 progression, object-oriented design, and a strong focus on secure software development with C/C++ and Linux environments.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in an engineering, mathematical or science-based subject or equivalent experience.
• Essential: Embedded product development experience (bare-metal and RTOS such as ThreadX, QNX or Linux).
• Essential: C and C++ programming experience.
• Essential: Object-Oriented Design and Design Patterns.
• Essential: Software testing and test design.
• Essential: Version control, CI and automated testing tools and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Implement software under the project’s software lead direction.
• Develop embedded and/or application software for multiple programmes.
• Follow SFIA Level 2/3 guidance for design, coding, testing and documentation.
• Ensure security compliance and quality under defined processes.
• Contribute to software development processes and best practices.
