Job summary

Lorien is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Portsmouth for an Inside IR35 contract. The role focuses on developing embedded software and firmware in C/C++ for platforms like Microblaze and RISC-V, with exposure to embedded Linux and SDR.

You will prototype wireless solutions, configure U-Boot and device trees, and push prototypes toward deployment-ready systems while working within an agile team and potential SC clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• Proficient in C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with bare-metal and embedded Linux environments.
• Experience with Linux device drivers (DMA, interrupts, device trees).
• Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP).
• Knowledge of software defined radio (SDR).

Responsibilities

• Prototype innovative wireless solutions.
• Develop embedded software and firmware in C/C++, on Microblaze or RISC-V.
• Work in an agile environment to build prototypes.
• Take proven prototypes forward to deployment-ready standards.
• Work with embedded Linux, Buildroot and Yocto.
• Configure U-Boot, kernel and device trees.
• Build and deploy embedded Linux systems in offline environments.
