Job summary

HUBER+SUHNER Polatis is recruiting a Software Engineer to develop embedded software for its optical switching products. The role focuses on architecture, design and integration of software in embedded Linux environments, collaborating with hardware teams and contributing to high-performance solutions.

You will design and maintain C components, participate in DTB/kernel driver work, use Yocto, and ensure robust, scalable software across platforms while delivering documentation and verification

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Software Engineering or equivalent
• At least 3 years’ experience developing software in C for embedded systems
• Experience working with ARM-based microcontrollers
• Knowledge of Linux boot processes, Device Tree configuration and kernel drivers
• Ability to develop user-space applications using POSIX APIs and read/open-source libraries
• Experience with debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems
• Experience with I2C, UART, SPI and USB protocols and hardware schematics
• Experience with Yocto build system and platform design support

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining embedded software components in Linux environments
• Collaborating with Software Architects and senior engineers on scalable, high-performance solutions
• Owning software modules from concept to deployment
• Developing C applications using POSIX APIs
• Working with Linux boot processes, DTB and kernel drivers
• Integrating open-source libraries and ensuring compatibility
• Debugging, optimizing and assisting system administration
• Collaborating with hardware engineers for integration with platforms
• Interpreting hardware schematics to aid debugging
• Defining verification strategies with test engineers
• Producing technical documentation and artefacts in line with processes
