Job summary

VIQU Limited is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to work on a major electric vehicle platform, replacing the existing system with a production-ready software stack. The role focuses on model-based development using MATLAB/Simulink, embedded C/C++, and integration across the vehicle hardware and software environment.

You will contribute to commissioning, calibration, functional safety, and cybersecurity, while collaborating with the wider engineering team in Warwick.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of commercial embedded software development experience.
• Production-quality embedded software and control systems experience.
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink or comparable model-based development experience.
• Good understanding of the V-Model lifecycle.
• Automotive/vehicle engineering experience.
• Experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN.
• Experience commissioning, testing, calibration and debugging.
• Understanding of functional safety concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded control software for electric vehicle applications.

Embedded Software Engineer – MATLAB/Simulink and Electric Vehicles

VIQU has partnered with a leading manufacturer of specialist commercial vehicles.

The business is recruiting an Embedded Software Engineer to support a major vehicle development programme, replacing an existing platform with a new electric vehicle platform.

You will develop and integrate production-intent embedded software, turning stakeholder requirements into vehicle functionality and control systems. This is a hands-on engineering role covering model-based development, software implementation, systems integration, verification and vehicle testing.

You will work with MATLAB/Simulink, Embedded C/C++ and vehicle communication technologies, supporting the software through model, software, hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle-based testing. The position also offers involvement in vehicle commissioning, calibration, functional safety and embedded cybersecurity.

Key Requirements

• Around five or more years of commercial embedded software development experience.
• Experience developing production-quality embedded software and control systems.
• Strong MATLAB/Simulink or comparable model-based development experience.
• Good understanding of the V-Model software development lifecycle.
• Automotive, vehicle or closely related engineering experience.
• Experience with vehicle communication protocols such as CAN.
• Practical experience of commissioning, testing, calibration and debugging.
• Understanding of functional safety concepts.
• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical subjects.

Experience with electric or hybrid vehicles, ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO 21434, automotive diagnostics, cybersecurity or software release processes would be advantageous.

• Salary of £55,000–£75,000.
• Hybrid working, typically three days onsite in Warwick.
