Job summary

Precept Recruit is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a growing UK sovereign technology company at a pivotal stage in its journey. The role focuses on secure, high‑integrity software development in C/C++ for embedded platforms.

You'll design, develop and test embedded solutions, follow MISRA/C CERT standards, work with RTOS and ARM STM32 microcontrollers, and contribute to rigorous unit testing, code reviews and technical documentation on-site in Derby.

Qualifications

• Embedded C/C++ software development.
• Multi-threaded embedded systems and RTOS.
• ARM-based microcontrollers (STM32) and register-level programming.
• Embedded debugging (JTAG/ETM).
• Industry coding standards (MISRA/CERT C).
• Automated unit testing tools (LDRA/Parasoft).
• Static analysis and technical report writing.

Responsibilities

The Role

You will be involved in the design, development and testing of innovative software products and systems, with security and quality at the heart of everything you do.

• Developing and testing embedded software solutions using C/C++.

• Designing maintainable software in line with customer requirements and formal specifications.

Essential Skills & Experience

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

• Embedded C/C++ software development.

• Multi‑threaded embedded systems and Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS).

• ARM‑based microcontrollers, such as STM32, including register‑level programming.

• Embedded debugging techniques, including JTAG and ETM.

• Industry coding standards, such as MISRA and CERT C.

• Automated software unit testing tools, such as LDRA and Parasoft.

• Static analysis tools.

• Technical report writing.
