Job summary

Ring in Cambridge is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to contribute to design and implementation of security-oriented devices. You will work on IoT interfaces, hardware/software integration, and the full software stack for embedded systems.

You should have hands-on experience with C/C++ in professional settings, knowledge of ML concepts, and a background in designing reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience (non-internship) in professional software development.
  • Experience in embedded development in C/C++.
  • Knowledge of machine learning model architecture and inference.
  • Experience designing or architecting systems, or professional software development.

Responsibilities

  • Dive deep to solve design issues involving algorithms and hardware/software interfaces.
  • Participate in design reviews for embedded systems, simulations, and software.
  • Influence teams to drive technical implementation of system designs.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve agility and development workflow.
  • Define/refine system requirements and contribute to interoperability features like health monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Develop embedded software in C/C++.

Ring is working on innovative smart security products and we are looking for skilled individuals with a strong bias for action and deep technical knowledge to join our core development team in Cambridge. The ideal candidate is passionate about internet connected devices, has a strong understanding of embedded and systems software, and understands how your code runs on hardware. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment.

Key job responsibilities
  • Dive deep to help solve critical design issues involving algorithm, develop hardware/software/firmware interfaces, IoT interfaces, etc
  • Participate in design reviews for complex embedded systems, simulations, algorithms and software development owned by your team and partner teams
  • Influences within your team and partner teams to help drive and develop the technical implementation for overall system designs
  • Identify and implement process improvements which improve your team’s agility. This may include improvements to design, automation, development, test or operations.
  • Define and/or refine system requirements, participate in the development and delivery of Interoperability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and other self-healing automation.
  • Develop embedded software in C/C++
A day in the life

Your work is very hands-on and multi-disciplinary. You will be working closely with vendors, engineers, and product teams. You write documents, carry out experiments, demonstrate proof-of-concepts, build prototypes, and ship sophisticated systems.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience (non-internship) in professional software development
  • Experience in embedded development in C/C++
  • Knowledge of machine learning model architecture and inference
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems, or experience (non-internship) in professional software development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, and parallel computing
