Job summary

Unknown company is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design and build real-time software for sensing and communications tech. You’ll take ideas from clean sheet to tested code running on our hardware in live deployments. Security clearance is required: BPSS, SC clearance and five years residency in the UK may be needed.

Remote work is not available. You will design robust software in C/C++ for microelectronics and sensors, write drivers/HALs, optimise protocols and deploy IoT data

Qualifications

• Fluent in C, C++ and Python, with experience of SQL-based databases.
• Familiarity with Git version control.
• Analytical mindset and ability to break complex problems into elegant, efficient code.
• High standards; write clean, well-commented code that others can follow.
• Collaborative approach bridging hardware, physics and software.

Responsibilities

• Design and build real-time embedded software in C/C++ for microelectronics, sensors and subsystems.
• Write low-level drivers and HALs for microcontrollers and FPGAs.
• Implement and optimise communication protocols.
• Design and deploy data collection systems for remote environments and load-balanced IoT data services.
• Maintain and correct SQL databases and run HiL testing to ensure fault-tolerant deployments.
• Contribute across the full SDLC from design to deployment, aligned with customer requirements.
