Job summary

Holt Recruitment seeks an experienced Embedded Linux Developer to join a highly technical engineering team in the UK. The role spans embedded Linux, bare-metal, RTOS, device drivers and communications protocols, with close collaboration across disciplines.

You will support projects from concept to delivery, enhancing software that interfaces with hardware and ensuring robust, maintainable solutions. UK SC clearance eligibility is noted as a requirement.

Qualifications

• Strong experience developing embedded Linux systems.
• Knowledge of device trees, user space, kernel space and SoC platforms.
• Experience working with embedded hardware and software integration.
• Willingness to learn and develop expertise with Yocto for building and maintaining custom Linux images.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to embedded engineering projects from early development through to delivered solutions.
• Develop software for Embedded Linux systems, including ARM-based SoCs.
• Develop software for RTOS and bare-metal embedded systems across a range of microcontrollers and silicon platforms.
• Support system bring-up, board integration, debugging and performance optimisation.
• Work closely with FPGA and electronics engineers to integrate software and hardware.
• Develop and maintain device drivers, embedded applications, algorithms and communications protocols.
• Diagnose and resolve complex software and system-level issues.
• Contribute to project planning, technical documentation and software development processes.
• Apply robust software engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• Communicate technical information effectively to engineering teams and, where appropriate, customers.
