Job summary

SoCode Limited is seeking a hands-on System Integration & Test Engineer for a 1-year contract in Cambridge, with 3 days on site per week. The role involves defining test plans, building test setups, executing manual testing, and hands-on debugging across embedded software and electronics.

You will collaborate with system engineers, embedded software, hardware, and backend/frontend teams, including overseas colleagues.

Qualifications

• Essential: BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or higher.
• Essential: Minimum 3 years' experience in multidisciplinary system integration including hardware, firmware and software.
• Essential: Experience defining test plans and test design documentation.
• Essential: Experience debugging complex embedded systems.
• Essential: Experience with protocol testing over RF and wired interfaces.
• Essential: Ability to understand complex IoT systems, including RF communications and hardware interfaces.
• Essential: Experience troubleshooting using standard test equipment.
• Essential: Hands-on experience with test definition, test setup ramp-up and failure debugging.

Responsibilities

• Define detailed test plans and test cases.
• Define testing setups and take a hands-on approach to their creation and implementation.
• Execute manual testing and produce clear test reports.
• Perform hands-on debugging of complex systems, focusing on embedded and electronics aspects within the wider solution.
• Collaborate with system engineers, embedded software developers, hardware engineers, integration engineers, and backend/frontend teams.
• Operate within a multi-site, matrix organisation.
• Quickly understand new technologies, concepts and constraints.
• Contribute to a structured and systematic approach to testing, integration and failure investigation.
