Job summary

Platform Recruitment Limited in Southampton is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain firmware for microcontroller-based systems using C/C++. The role focuses on resource-constrained devices and integration with hardware.

You will work with RTOS environments (Zephyr), CI/CD, and collaborate across hardware and software teams to ensure robust, timely delivery; opportunities to improve power usage and BLE/WiFi TCP/IP stacks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science required.
• Strong C/C++ firmware experience for embedded systems.
• Experience with RTOS environments (e.g., Zephyr).
• Familiarity with compilers, IDEs and firmware tools.
• Knowledge of digital electronics and hardware interfaces.
• Experience with Git or similar version control tools.
• Desirable: Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/TCP/IP protocols.
• Desirable: BLE stack integration and power optimization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems.
• Lead or contribute to firmware projects with timely delivery.
• Support hardware bring-up, BSP development and peripheral drivers integration.
• Provide technical input, participate in code reviews and share best practices.
• Help implement CI/CD processes for reliable deployments.
• Contribute to full product lifecycle from concept to post-launch support.
• Maintain clear technical documentation.
