Job summary

Planet Pharma in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to lead the design, development and deployment of firmware for battery-powered, communication-enabled devices. You will own production-ready code and work across hardware and software teams in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• Approximately five years of embedded software engineering experience, primarily using C/C++.
• Hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and embedded debugging tools.
• Proven track record in delivering low-power firmware for battery-powered devices.
• Experience with GNSS, LoRa/LoRaWAN, RTOS environments.

Responsibilities

We’re seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated firmware solutions for battery‑powered and communication‑enabled devices. What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Approximately five years of embedded software engineering experience, primarily using C/C++
• Hands‑on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and embedded debugging tools
• Proven track record in delivering low‑power firmware, especially for battery‑operated devices
• Skilled in working with GNSS (preferably u-blox M10 or newer), LoRa/LoRaWAN, embedded peripherals, and RTOS environments
• Ability to work independently, ensuring the delivery of production‑ready, maintainable firmware

Nice to Have Skills:

• Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and tools like J‑Link or ST‑Link
• Experience with version control systems such as Git and collaborative development workflows
• Ability to interpret hardware schematics and PCB layoutsExperience using AI‑powered development tools like GitHub Copilot or similar

Preferred Education & Experience:

• A degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• A minimum of five years’ embedded firmware development experience in a professional setting
