Job summary

QCS Staffing Ltd in Cambridge is seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer for a 2-year contract in Life Sciences. You will design, develop and optimise firmware for low-power STM32-based IoT devices, integrating GNSS and LoRa/LoRaWAN for robust, production-ready solutions.

You will work with hardware, software, systems, and test teams to deliver reliable embedded software in an RTOS environment, ensuring performance and maintainability across the full development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Extensive embedded software engineering experience with C/C++.
• Strong hands-on STM32, embedded debugging and low-power battery devices.
• Experience with GNSS, LoRa/LoRaWAN, RTOS (preferably FreeRTOS) integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, debug, and optimise embedded firmware for low-power STM32-based IoT devices and connected products.
• Integrate GNSS modules, LoRa/LoRaWAN communications, and hardware peripherals for production-ready solutions.

As they continue to grow, they're seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to support their dynamic team and drive forward groundbreaking projects in Cambridge.

What you'll deliver:

• Design, develop, debug, and optimise embedded firmware for low-power STM32-based IoT devices and connected products.


• Integrate GNSS modules, LoRa/LoRaWAN communications, and hardware peripherals to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.


• Develop and maintain embedded software within an RTOS environment, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability.

What you'll need:

• Extensive embedded software engineering experience developing embedded systems using C/C++.

• Experience integrating GNSS modules, LoRa or LoRaWAN communications, embedded peripherals, and RTOS-based applications (preferably FreeRTOS).


• Ability to independently deliver production-ready firmware, with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
