Job summary

Cambridge University Press is seeking a Senior Editor (Secondary) to lead editorial project management within the English Propositions team in Cambridge. The role focuses on ELT publishing plans, coordinating international colleagues to deliver content on schedule, within budget and to high pedagogical quality.

The successful candidate will manage schedules, budgets, and resources, ensure engaging content, and work with editors and freelancers to meet milestones.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant field or proven comparable experience.
• CELTA / TESOL qualification or equivalent experience in ELT pedagogy.
• Strong editorial project planning and management skills across ELT products/workflows.
• Experience briefing and managing freelancers and supervising in-house editorial work.
• Proven success delivering to tight timescales, specifications and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead on development of allocated course components or levels by managing schedules, budgets and editorial resources.
• Ensure content under development is engaging, pedagogically sound and aligned with project goals.
• Collaborate with the Commissioning Editor/Product Owner to meet milestones and wider goals.
• Define detailed editorial scope and requirements for projects.
• Plan, schedule and monitor timelines and deliverables, reporting to the Senior Team.
• Coordinate authors/writers and editorial staff, pre-empting workflow obstacles and mitigating risks.
• Ensure the project budget is adhered to and risks are mitigated in a timely way.
• Communicate with team members and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery to specifications.
