Job summary

Sale Sharks is seeking an experienced Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach to advance the physical development of our academy players. The role focuses on supporting the U16 programme and leading the U17 S&C work, collaborating across the academy pathway to nurture elite rugby talent.

The successful candidate will work within a high-performance environment at the Carrington Training Centre, with travel to partner schools and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in performance sport, ideally academy or professional setting.
• Strong S&C principles and programme design.
• Experience using performance monitoring/diagnostic tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Genuine passion for developing young elite rugby athletes.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement Academy S&C programmes with the performance team.
• Conduct player assessments and establish performance benchmarks.
• Deliver age-appropriate S&C programmes to support long-term development.
• Work with coaches, physiotherapists and medical staff on rehab and return-to-play.
• Visit schools and ACE programmes and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Promote best practice and support matches and events.
• Support internal and external audits.
