AEGIS London seeks a high-performing underwriter to join its Marine Hull & War team at Lloyd’s. The role focuses on a diverse, facultative portfolio weighted towards War risks, supporting a senior underwriter and shaping underwriting appetite.

Technical precision, market insight, and client relationships are essential. The successful candidate will manage underwriting processes, contribute to the syndicate plan, and collaborate with brokers and policyholders while adhering to internal procedures

Qualifications

• Underwrite Hull & War market with knowledge of policy wordings and risk factors.
• Understand geopolitical drivers of War market and shipowner client base.
• Proactive and entrepreneurial approach.
• Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills.
• Ability to work both in a team and independently.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Strong organisational and planning skills; prioritisation.
• Proficient in underwriting systems and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite the Hull & War account on behalf of Syndicate 1225 diligently and in accordance with underwriting authorities and procedures.
• Assist in delivering business mix, planned premium income and ULRs as per the syndicate plan.
• Monitor binders, facilities and lineslips for declarations and premium income and perform referrals as needed.
• Prepare data for Consortium and Outwards Reinsurance reporting and analyses of binding authorities.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with brokers, coverholders and policyholders.
• Ensure data is accurately recorded on internal systems relating to underwriting and exposures.
• Comply with laws, regulations, policies and guidance.
• Travel as needed to build business relationships.
• Mentor Assistant Underwriter and support project work.
