Job summary

CapeClarke seeks a Contentious Construction & Engineering Associate (2+ PQE) to join its market-leading London team. You will advise on high-value live projects and complex dispute work across sectors, working closely with clients and senior lawyers.

The role offers responsibility, mentoring of trainees and staff, and a path to partnership within a supportive Real Estate group. You will handle adjudication, High Court litigation, arbitration and mediation, manage document reviews, and contribute

Qualifications

2+ years’ PQE in contentious construction and engineering.
Experience in both project advisory work and formal dispute resolution.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and rights across the supply chain.
Experience with delay, extensions of time, liquidated damages, and defects.
Experience of adjudication and High Court litigation procedure.
Arbitration and mediation experience advantageous but not essential.
Experience managing large-scale document review and disclosure, familiarity with document management/bundling platforms.
Exposure to witness and expert evidence.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Excellent organisational and diary management capabilities.

Responsibilities

Advise on live construction and engineering projects and assist clients in risk management and disputes.
Provide formal dispute resolution support including adjudication, High Court litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
Supervise trainees and paralegals; contribute to business development and client relationship management.
