Job summary

CapeClarke in London seeks a Contentious Construction & Engineering Associate (2+ PQE) to join its market-leading team. You will handle high‑value disputes and provide project advisory support across sectors.

You will mentor junior lawyers, contribute to client development, and work on live construction projects from pre-litigation through adjudication, arbitration, and High Court proceedings.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ PQE in contentious construction and engineering.
• Experience in project advisory work and formal dispute resolution.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts and the contractual, tortious, and statutory rights arising across the supply chain.
• Experience of adjudication and High Court litigation procedure.
• Arbitration and mediation experience advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Advise on live construction and engineering projects, helping clients manage risk and disputes.
• Handle formal dispute resolution including adjudication, High Court litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
• Supervise and mentor trainees and paralegals; contribute to business development.
• Take an active role in managing key client relationships and pitches.
• Collaborate with non-contentious construction lawyers and project teams on diverse mandates.
