Job summary

Arsenal Academy is seeking an Academy Performance Psychologist on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will deliver performance psychology across U9–U21, develop players’ mental capacities, and work within an interdisciplinary team to optimise potential.

Responsibilities include education for players and staff, psychological monitoring and wellbeing screenings, collaboration with Coaches and the Medical team, and contributing to research and development within a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered as a Sport & Exercise Psychologist (required).
• Postgraduate training via BPS or CASES.
• Safeguarding and First Aid certificates up-to-date.
• Experience in elite sport and with young players in a football academy.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychology support—educate players, parents/guardians and staff; design player profiles and development plans.
• Oversee psychological monitoring and assessments for injured players; manage return-to-play considerations.
• Support player wellbeing with wellbeing screenings and collaboration with Wellbeing in Performance group.
• Collaborate with Coaches to design training practices fostering champion mentality.
• Align with Medical department to identify and refer mental health concerns.
• Contribute to research, development and dissemination of best practices.
