Job summary

SAAB Seaeye is looking for a Test Engineer who will be responsible for testing and repairing electronic components to ensure quality standards. Job Purpose:

To test all main assemblies and sub-assemblies (including PCBs) according to the correct test procedures, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Test and repair products as prioritized by the department team leader.
  2. Possess good knowledge of electrical and electronic components and principles.
  3. Maintain and help generate test procedures and build documentation.
  4. Test PCBs or assemblies to component level per procedures and quality standards.
  5. Maintain, repair, and help design company test equipment.
  6. Identify build or design faults and report to the team leader.
  7. Raise change requests and provide feedback to improve product quality or efficiency.
  8. Support training of others by sharing knowledge and skills.
  9. Interpret electrical drawings accurately.
  10. Perform soldering and electrical wiring to high standards in line with company procedures.
  11. Use crimp tools, crimps, receptacles, sleeving, and heat-shrink materials proficiently.
  12. Operate fibre optic termination equipment and testing tools effectively.
  13. Maintain a safe and clean working environment following 6S and health & safety policies.
  14. Use judgment and initiative to develop solutions for daily challenges.
  15. Maintain proficiency with relevant IT systems required for the role.
  16. Act ethically, with integrity, and in the best interest of the business.
  17. Foster professional relationships with team members and other departments.
  18. Perform additional duties as assigned by the team leader or Manufacturing Manager.

Further education in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (e.g., ONC, HNC, HND) and experience with PSUs (including HV PSUs, with training provided) are desirable.

QHSE Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment.
  • Work safely, report incidents or hazards.
  • Deliver products and services meeting Saab Seaeye quality standards, and suggest improvements.
