Job summary

Babcock is seeking an Electronics Technician to deliver workplace-based learning, coaching and assessment for apprentices across the British Army. The role develops a hands-on educator who guides learners through their programmes while meeting ESFA and Ofsted requirements.

Travel to Salisbury and other sites is required; full-time hours and home-working arrangements are included. Prior training experience is not required as we will develop you into the role.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English (grade C or above or equivalent).
  • Relevant industry-related qualification in Electronics (minimum Level 3).
  • Significant experience in an appropriate industry environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and review learner progress in line with customer expectations
  • Support, motivate, and coach learners through their apprenticeship programme
  • Ensure compliance with awarding organisation, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements
  • Deliver scheduled visits and complete all required documentation
  • Provide portfolio-building advice and guidance

Role

As an Electronics Technician you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll deliver workplace‑based learning, coaching, and assessment to help apprentices complete their programmes successfully and meet industry, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements. This is a role where you'll make a real difference, supporting the next generation of skilled professionals while strengthening Babcock's reputation for excellence in vocational training.

Day‑to‑day you'll be required to:
  • Monitor and review learner progress in line with customer expectations
  • Support, motivate, and coach learners through their apprenticeship programme
  • Ensure compliance with awarding organisation, ESFA, and Ofsted requirements
  • Deliver scheduled visits and complete all required documentation
  • Provide portfolio‑building advice and guidance

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires travel in and around Salisbury to our other sites alongside home working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Electronics Technician:
  • Significant experience in an appropriate industry environment
Qualifications for the Electronics Technician:
  • GCSE Maths and English (grade C or above or equivalent)
  • Relevant industry‑related qualification in Electronics (minimum Level 3)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) + Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check security clearance for this role.
